Young Gio from Vorarlberg is transferred from his idyllic home, leaving behind his fiancée and mother, to St. Pauli, where he is supposed to sell his region’s mountain cheese. What follows is a full-blown culture clash. Although his best friend Luka, an avid opera singer, comes along with him, and Gio finds a new friend in his landlady Nerissa, a trans* woman, adjusting to his new life proves difficult. While his scheming colleague Charlene tries every trick in the book to win him over, Gio begins to develop feelings he has never experienced before for Juri, a charismatic but reckless musical theatre student. His life is turned completely upside down when his mother suddenly appears on the doorstep of his apartment in St. Pauli – ultimately leading to a joint trip to a cheese convention on the North Sea coast.
